LEATHER AND BEAD CREATIONS
Each piece embodies the spirit and soul of our culture,
embracing textures and colours that bring light to our traditions
and to each person's unique history.
I am plains Cree/Sioux born in Edmonton, Alberta.
My art, the clothing and objects I make, reflect and carry forward my peoples history. For 33 years I have been designing historical replicas, traditional clothing, and I specialise in the design and creation of traditional regalia and headdresses.
Over the past decades, I have established myself as a teacher, story-teller, dancer, and a master headdress maker.
My dream is to build awareness and appreciation for native culture through my work, and retain my historical values. I am naturally gifted in working with traditional materials, and I credit the generations of elders for passing this gift down to me.
My first teacher was my grandmother.
She connected me to the beauty and strength of my culture, and its traditions. By following traditional ways, everything I make is rich in integrity and expression of culture.
